My dad used to say, ‘more haste, less speed’ when I was little. I didn’t understand what it meant for a long time, but for a while, I’ve been subconsciously doing these things on your list and it has made such a difference to my levels of stress. Great article.

I know what you say here about time, and perceived time is right Matthew. I have experiences from this when I stopped working some years ago. When working I was always stressed. Now I have a slow living style and my health is so much better. We have a Norwegian saying that the more you rush the less you get done. With stress/ multitasking we are told we get more effective, that is a lie. Our brain and body are not build for that. We end up sick. Good article, I enjoyed reading.

I need to practice this. My mind is always jumping ahead to the next task and the next. I have always been like this. I need to try to be more present and concentrate on one thing at a time.

I needed to hear this today! Thank you. I've just been wrestling with this exact feeling. I know I have time, but yet I constantly feel like I don't have enough - and I want to change that.

I think I will start by looking at my diary - I block out time for everything, but then I ignore it completely. I will schedule in extra time, and make sure that the time I have allocated for tasks is realistic.

This is so true Matthew and I’m sure we all find that when we fall under time pressure then we rush and things take longer. Even down to the smallest things like looking for the house keys before you leave only to find them in the exact same place that you always put them but you just haven’t seen them. Taking a breath and slowing down is definitely the key to being more efficient with time. It seems such an odd concept and the opposite of what you would expect – but it works!

Really interesting to read this, and you’re right, small changes really do make a difference 🌿✨

These sound like simple changes to make. And I want to do more of this type of slowing down activity this year. Happy New Year 🎊

Sounds great for you. I have done this for two years now, slowing down and it has not been easy but I think the more you practise the easier it gets and somtimes you fail but everytime it is easier to come back to live more in the present. Glad life feels better for you.
